Abstract

The article offers an interpretation of the first posthumous work of the poet Óscar Castro, the Glosario gongorino, published as an homage in 1948 on the first anniversary of his death. Through a comparative analysis between the poems that compose this work and the sonnets of Luis de Góngora whose last verse Castro glosses, we aim to define the type of poetic exercise that characterizes this encomiastic opuscule. To this end, attention is paid to the recognition of the figure of Góngora carried out by the Spanish generation of 1927, as well as to the role played in Chilean poetry of the 1930s by the so-called “poets of clarity”.
