This is an examination of the ways in which time and memory displacement constitute singularities of a sustained architecture in Pedro Lastra’s poetry. This aspect is the basis for the realization of an imaginary in the case of the Chilean poet which comprises various dimensions, from existentialist to metaphysical. Memory’s direction, therefore, will be unpredictable. Time as a notion of duration unfolded through memory is also examined in Lastra’s work. Upon following Deleuze’s interpretation of Bergson, such dimension can be achieved by activating conscience and freedom (the open in Heidegger’s terms) which are two essential elements in the process of artistic rendering.
