In 1926 was published the Index of the New American Poetry, an emblematic Latin American literature anthology, with a foreword signed by Jorge Luis Borges, Alberto Hidalgo and Vicente Huidobro. Assuming that the study of such document would prompt academic debate and further studies on the poetics endeavors on the continental avant-garde production, this paper explores the Huidobro’s creationist and its universalist aspirations, in order to explore possible links between his poetic program to an americanist project such as the Index.
