This paper studies the presence of astrology in Arauco domado, a theme not included in La Araucana of Ercilla, and a true innovation within the colonial epic poetry canon. In Canto II of Arauco domado, Oña introduces an astrological scene, bringing back the most famous astrological predictions in epic poetry: Lucan’s Pharsalia. Canto II of Arauco domado is, undoubtedly, another example of the importance of astrology and its inluence on the authors of Spanish Golden Age on both sides of the Atlant
