A Quarrel for Representation: Research about the Conquest´s Social Influence and the Spaniard´s Colonial System in Chile by José Victorino Lastarria

In the following study we develop, from the dispute between Lastarria and Bello, caused at the heat of one Studysubmitted on the first anniversary of Universidad de Chile, in 1844, the theory that this historiographic dispute is based on several foundations, some of them different from those the critique is accustomed to underline. As a background we can see the struggle for a new order in the literature field. An order that has a double implication: the political order and hierarchy, and the writing order or law in the system of intellectual production. This is about buried power relations where the writing, its domain and practice, are the ways in which the follower try to outstand over the master, from an outlook in what the writing is practical and also a discipline of an ideological discursivity, as well as ideology of a discursivity, as would be concluded from the intention to define the historiography´s function. This is a field in struggle that opens in front of the intellectuals; relevant matter if the historical studies were not developed yet as we know them today. We are in front of the sense building, in relation with political and memorial activities.
